it's thanksgiving weekend here in canada and we are heading on a two hour car drive to celebrate with family...wish us luck!

i'm hoping miss m will just pass out but she has been pretty hit or miss when it comes to car rides. she hasn't quite decided what to make of them yet. it must be hard to be so little with all of these new experiences being thrown at you. but i have made sure to pack our bags with some good distracting toys, soothers (in case we drop one in the road, because that happened and wasn't too fun), and a bottle just in case we can't pull over right away.

somehow we managed to make something to bring with us too! more jay managed to make something while i sang little richard songs to mila this morning. or the parts of what little richard songs i knew. okay, it was pretty much tutti frutti on repeat. sometimes this girl gets burdened by whatever song pops in my head first, but at least we have a good time dancing around to them.

hope you have a great weekend!

remember when i said 2am was my favourite time with mila? well after a few weeks of being able to sleep until 4 or 5 before she stirred, last night's 2am and 5am wake up calls have me feeling pretty done in for today. i have declared it a lazy day. like refuse normal clothes, feels like a 24 hour pajama day over here.

hope you had a great weekend and fairing monday as best as you can!

a little video

its hard to believe we have had this little girl with us for a whole month already! the time has gone by so fast and so slow at the same time given that all days seem longer when you run on three hours of sleep. as exhausted as i am this month has been the best getting to know miss mila and adapting to life as her mom.
we already can't get enough.

above is a little video of our first month with her. it sure has been wonderful, tiring, challenging, worrisome, beautiful and a bunch of other emotions all wrapped up in one. one thing is for sure, 2 a.m. is sort of my favourite time with her...weird right? i know!

m is for mila

it's a girl!

jay and i welcomed a baby girl a few weeks back and have been figuring out our new gig as parents one day at a time. each day is different so we've been getting in some pretty good lessons (and with little sleep i might add). there are days when i find it hard to believe she is really here and the wait to meet her and see her are finally over; but gosh am i over the moon to look at and hold this little one daily.

more to come on miss mila, much more to come!

will it be this weekend?

my guess is no, but a mama can hope! i have a feeling boleslaw wants to stick around for a little while longer. so until the grand appearance happens i plan to soak up this belly, listen to albums i have been meaning to get to and stare aimlessly at the nursery being occupied by two fuzzy kittens. i have a feeling we will be scooping cats out of the bassinet on a regular basis once the baby comes.

boleslaw is 39 weeks old in this photo. pretty big difference from 16 weeks if you ask me. and i remember feeling so big at 16 weeks. little did i know!

hope you have an amazing weekend!

out & about

we are on baby watch over here expecting the little one's arrival in about two weeks but while we have been busing ourselves with the nursery, doctors appointments and my final days at work (now officially on mat leave!) we have still tried to make of the most of our days sans baby to see friends and hang out with each other as much as possible.

a few weekends back we took a stroll to kensington market to see our friends of ESCALATE play for pedestrian sundays. they are regulars for pedestrian sundays and really just a great listen for a summer sunday afternoon with a beer (or h2o for this one) on a patio with friends. or really just a great listen in general.

we were pretty happy to make it out successfully that day seeing as each new day brings more frequent trips to the bathroom and just general comfortableness. below are a few photos snapped of our day there. originally we wanted to go for an hour so we could get back home to get back to work but we ended up staying for about three hours. i blame the music, our friends, the sun, and a particular aussie who was in town for a short bit that i didn't think i would be able to see!

if you venture to toronto in the summer, this is for sure worth checking out!
hope you are enjoying your summer too!
